Kristi Govella

Dr Kristi Govella is Associate Professor at the University of Oxford and Japan Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). She specialises in the intersection of economics, security, and governance, with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region and Japan. She has published widely on topics such as military alliances, regional institutional architecture, economic security, and the governance of the global commons. Dr Govella previously held positions at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, the German Marshall Fund of the United States, Harvard University, and the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies. She has also been a visiting research fellow at the University of Tokyo and Waseda University. She holds a PhD and an MA in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.
