Sven Sakkov

Ambassador of Estonia to Finland

Sven Sakkov has been the Ambassador of Estonia to Finland since 2020. Before assuming his duties in Helsinki, he served as a Director of the ICDS, as a Director of NATO Cyber Centre of Excellence, and as undersecretary for policy (Policy Director) of the Estonian Ministry of Defence. During his 7 years as Policy Director, he was also Estonia’s representative to NATO’s Senior Officials’ Group and High-Level Group. During his three decades in different defence- and security-related fields, Mr Sakkov has worked for President Lennart Meri and been posted to the Estonian Mission to NATO and to the Estonian Embassy in Washington, DC. He has an MPhil degree in international relations from the University of Cambridge and is a graduate of Tartu University and the Royal College of Defence Studies in London.
