Maria Mälksoo

Professor of International Relations, University of Copenhagen

Professor Maria Mälksoo is a Professor of International Relations in the Department of Political Science, University of Copenhagen, where her current research focus is on NATO-Russia deterrence dynamics in the post-Cold War era. She is the principal investigator of the European research council consolidator grant RITUAL DETERRENCE (2022-27) and of the Volkswagen Foundation-funded consortium project MEMOCRACY (2021-24). She is the author of The Politics of Becoming European: A Study of Polish and Baltic Post-Cold War Security Imaginaries (Routledge, 2010); a co-author of Remembering Katyn (Polity, 2012); an editor of The Handbook on the Politics of Memory (Edward Elgar, 2023) and of the special issue on the uses of eastern Europe in international studies in the Journal of International Relations and Development (2022).
