Mareike Müller

Freelance Journalist

Mareike Müller is a Foreign Correspondent and Author covering Ukraine, the Baltics, and eastern Europe for various German news outlets. Her work focuses on Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and its regional implications. She is particularly interested in the intersections of geopolitics, economics, and security, and places the people she encounters at these junctures at the heart of her reporting. Ms Müller has received several awards for her journalistic work. Before becoming a journalist, she worked for the United Nations in Paris, France. She holds a dual MSc in international security and political economy from Sciences Po Paris and the London School of Economics (LSE). In September 2026, her book Inventing the Future - In the Midst of War will be published in Germany, exploring Ukraine’s approach to innovation and the lessons it holds for the rest of Europe.
