Eric Peltier

Deputy Director General for International Relations and Strategy at the Ministry for the Armed Forces of France

Lieutenant General Eric Peltier is the Deputy Director General for International Relations and Strategy at the Ministry for the Armed Forces of France. After graduating from the French Military Academy, Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan in 1990, he earned his commission into the Armoured Cavalry and later attended the CHEM (War College). During his career, he was deployed to several operations abroad, from ALMANDIN in the Central African Republic to TRIDENT in Kosovo and UNIFIL in Lebanon. Promoted to Brigadier General in 2019, he served as Commander of the EU Training Mission in the Central African Republic. He was then head of the Southern Bilateral Cooperation Department within the French Joint Defence Staff, prior to being appointed as Head of Joint International Affairs, as Major General. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant General on 1 August 2024, upon becoming Deputy Director General for International Relations and Strategy. Lieutenant General Peltier is an Officer of the Legion of Honour, Officer of the National Order of Merit, and holder of the Cross of Military Valour with three commendations.
