International Defence Researcher, RAND Corporation
Clint Reach is an International Defence Researcher at RAND Corporation. With his primary research focus on European security, he is the lead author of seven RAND studies on the Russian military. Prior to joining RAND, Mr Reach served for nine years as a Russian linguist in the US Navy, first at the National Security Agency and followed by a four-year tour at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. In the latter position, he travelled to Russia as an interpreter and inspector on New Start Treaty inspections. During his time in active duty, he also deployed to Baghdad during the Iraqi “Surge,” and to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to defuse a situation involving a Russian-speaking detainee. In 2014, Clint received the Navy Language Professional of the Year award. Mr Reach holds master’s degrees in political science and international public policy with a focus on Russian and Eurasian studies.
